Zoo with the Cousins

Since moving to Salt Lake, we’ve been able to spend a lot of fun time with cousins doing all kinds of different activities.

One of those activities was visiting the Hogle Zoo.

Personal Photos 005

The monkey and ape exhibits are always a hit.  We got to see the ape up really close this time.

London has decided Bryson is her favorite.  She never leaves his side and is jealous if anyone else is with him.

Finally a picture of our Little Demi who is about 2 months old here.

Just as London loves Bryson, Tawny loves Anna.  They are kindred “princess” cousins.

We love our cousins and love living near them.

Lake Powell Year 6 – Year of the Slide

Three new McEntire grandkids made their first Lake Powell trip this year…Tawny (who was born while we were at Lake Powell last year), Ali and Demi.  Obviously Ali and Demi were much too young to do much but be held…but Tawny jumped right into the action of it all.

It is very strange to think these two little baby girls, Ali and Demi, will be jumping into the action next year.  They grow up so quickly.
Babies
Despite the number of young kids we have every year on this trip, we’ve always been so blessed with safety and protection.

This trip always provides a wonderful opportunity for all the cousins to bond with each other and their aunts and uncles

Bonding was very true with this three little girl…Anna, London and Tawny

Every year my kids get a little braver.  This year was no exception.

Daisy
Which included Daisy jumping in after them…just in case.
And rides on the banana and tubes…even Anna joined them without even a hint of fear.  She’s my brave one.

They even started jumping from the banana to the tubes and back

Then it was Anna’s turn…onto Curt’s tube, then…

Into the water without a problem.  “That was fun!”
The adults still had to take their turn, as well.

The big thing this year, though, was the slide!

It took a little bit of work from the men

And then there was our attempt at an “America’s Funniest Home Video” win…

Tube3
We pulled Ben on a tube (helmut and all) with a bungee rope attached to the jet ski down the slip and slide and out into the water.  Turned out it wasn’t that spectacular…so we quit filming…and that’s when we could have gotten the footage of Curtis cart wheeling down the last 1/2 and landing face first in the water.  Oh well.  Wasn’t meant to be, obviously.
This year was much stormier than it has ever been before.  Daily thunderstorms, serious wind and serious rain.  It did make it a little chilly sometimes, but that made the water seem that much warmer.
This was a first:  Quilts at Lake Powell

And the storms made for lots of good game playing time.

Yes, that is Chutes and Ladders with poker chips.
Leave it to the boys to turn even the simplest kids game into a gambling game
And the dogs.  Lake Powell wouldn’t be the same without all the dogs.

The dogs are so good you hardly notice they are there…except when they are not…

Daisy found the furthest closet hole to hide in one evening when we were lighting fireworks.  Poor little thing.
And here are the just for fun…can’t leave them out pictures!
